I had a good time re-connecting with Tom and Phyllis Bassett, of TEAM-France fame, and catching up on all the TEAM news.
My day of investigation at the Ecole Polytechnique was
most informative: the in-situ infrared characterisation of the
electrochemical flattening of Si(111) in ammonium fluoride could be my
project, if I just say the word. Now to discuss it with my supervisor
and post-doc... I know they have reservations, but it may be worth my
while to spend a short (3-month) stint in the lab in Paris. I would
certainly enjoy being back in France. But the scientific merits of the
stay are under scrutiny.
