It's a bit unreal, having bombs go off in central London, a mere
45-minute train ride away. I never think this sort of thing can happen
anywhere near where I
live.

One irony worth noting: the bus that blew up just happened to be right
outside the British Medical Association!  Hence plenty of doctors
on hand to attend to the casualties immediately. A small grace in the
midst of darkness.

Here's one suggestion as to how Londoners can handle the disturbance so well:
